I am putting together some of my recipes today. These are easy ones but ones that I use on a regular basis. Some of these are for the aroma, some for topical use, weight loss, and household cleaning. Essential oils can also be used to kill airborne molds so I have diffusers running in three rooms today. Make sure you are using therapeutic grades. I am not sure how valid the grading system is but I try to not to take any chanes when I am using essential oils. Some of my basics include Lavender of course. Lavender is handy to have around for burns and also helps with anxiety, sleep, enhancing your mood and I love to include it in my moisturizers for my skin.
This is a new oil source I am trying for these recipes. So far it seems to be about the same quality as YL or DoTerra oils.
Lemon is another standby. You can use lemon for cleaning and freshing up the environment. If you have a sore throat, combine a few drops with local honey to sooth the pain. It is an antioxidant and helps detoxify the body if you put a few drops in your water each morning. Lemon is also great to add to your housecleaning products. I use it with peppermint in the diffuser for a bit of energy in the morning.
Peppermint It is said that peppermint will help soothe inflamatory bowel disease. It is a good breath freshener and as I mentioned, for energy. I use Peppermint tea to soothe my stomach when it is upset. I have found Peppermint will help relieve headaches and is even more effective with Lavender. I use 2 drops of Peppermint, 2 drops of Lavender and rub it on my temples and the back of my neck.
Tea Tree Mix tea tree with cloves to attack mold and fungus. Use it with oregano for toenail fungus.
I have used up all my supply of Lemon Oil today so am going to order this one and see what the quality is like. Let me know if you use any of these and whether or not you like them
I also use it with lemon oil on my lavender pouches that I put in our running shoes. It is amazing how good they smell with just an overnight with the pouch inside each shoe.
This is the lavender I purchase to put in little pouches for our shoes. I fill the pouch with lavender and then add 2-10 drops of lemon oil depending on the condition of the shoes.
So what is the DIY for today? I woke up with aching muscles to ventured to the witches cupboard for something to alleviate the pain. I mixed up 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 1/4 cup beeswax, 15 drops of Peppermint, 15 drops of Lavender and grabbed some cayenne pepper out of the spice cabinet. I added about a tablespoon of cayenne pepper more or less. I mixed it all together in the top of my cauldron (double boiler for those not into witches brews). I didn’t apply much heat, just enough to thoroughly melt the coconut oil and beeswax. Then remove it from the heat to add all the other ingredients. I have applied it and it seems to be working so I am off to attach the day. I hope you enjoy the posts and would love to hear comments from you when you DIY with out recipes.
Check out the shop for some additional new items and be sure to buy an essential oil necklace. That way you can carry your favorite aroma with you throughout the day.
