Saffron…do you know what it is? I have used it in cooking but have never just taken it as a supplement. There is an Australian review of studies, six of them to be exact, that indicated saffron is an anti-depressant and will ease the symptoms of mild depression. Saffron has a calming anti-inflammatory and neuro-protective property that helps with the symptoms. Saffron comes in threads and it is recommended that you take 14 threads per day. Soak them in warm water for 10 minutes and then add them to soup or rice dishes.
I cannot vouch for this but the next time I am feeling a bit down, I think I will have some rice with saffron. May help with those cloudy day doldrums.
