Deodorant Recipe

So I made the natural deodorant a few weeks back and have been using it off and on. It seems to work pretty well and I found some great containers that I have posted in the shop on this site. I purchased the ones with the label already on that reads “I made this at home for you”.5 Deodorant Containers Empty - With "I Made It At Home for You" on Outside They were easy to fill with a small funnel. I put a couple funnels in the shop in case you don’t have one, but I had one in the drawer with all the other utensils.

I made a large amount as I wanted to fill all the containers and give some as gifts. Feel free to adjust according to the amount you want to make or use. I also used Jasmine in my first experiment but the second I used lavender and like that much better. I think peppermint or lemon might be a nice addition for men or something with a bit of spice.

So this is the recipe I used:
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons of Baking Soda
3/4 cup of arrowroot powder
3/4 cup of organic Cocoa butter
3/4 cup of organic Shea butter
4 drops of Vitamin E oil
At the very least use 50 drops of essential oil, I used 100 drops as this recipe was so large.
Some other fragrances to consider are geranium, or one of the fir or cedar oils.

In your double boiler combine the cocoa butter and shea butter. Heat until melted and remove from the heat to add the baking soda and arrowroot powder. If you don’t happen to have arrowroot powder, corn starch will work. I buy my baking soda at Costco because you can get a giant bag and I use baking soda for so many things. I use it with vinegar to clean the pipes in the sinks and tubs. But I digress.

Stir in the Vitamin E oil and the essential oils you have selected. Let it cool but not too long as you want to be able to pour it into your containers.
