Been awhile since I have taken out the cauldron to whip up some body butter, but I ran out today and needed to whip some up. Here is the recipe I used today and made it in the microwave instead of the double boiler. I was in a hurry so thought I would try the microwave. Here are the ingredients:
1 cup of coconut oil
1/2 cup Shea Butter
3 Tablespoons of carrier oil (I used almond oil as a carrier oil)
15-20 drops of orange, lime or other citrus oil. I used lime today and it is really a refreshing lotion.
Melt the coconut oil and shea butter in the microwave. I took about 90 seconds to melt it together. Then I added the almond oil and lime essential oil. I put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes to cool the lotion. I then put it in the mixer with the whisk and beat it until it formed peaks. I poured it into mason jars and will keep mine in the fridge as it gets hot in Florida. If you live where the temp does not get about 70 degrees you can store it in the cupboard.
I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do as it is a great summer body butter.
